"The Hall"

Most people called it this.  A building used for all kinds of occasions. "A place of entertainment for all. The residences were in charge of nearly all of the events and did most of the "bullcooking".
Movies were presented once or twice a week, Was there a charge or did someone foot the bill?  They were well attended until the fellow from Wieppe brought the "TV" sets to Headquarters.
Many and all kinds of parties were held in the hall; card parties, retirement parties.  The Christmas Party was a big event.  The school put on a program, lots of singing; Santa Clause came from Lewiston lugging sacks of candies and toys for the wee ones, and listened to every ones request for a good Christmas. (There was always a big tree with all the decorations and lights.  Bessie Smith says she will always remember the sleigh and reindeer made of plywood and painted so nicely)
On Sunday mornings, Sunday School and Church services were held. There were some talented and gifted voices among the women, I am told.
The hall had a main floor and a stage at one end. The main floor was nearly the size of a regulation basket-ball court, just lacked a few feet. the grade school boys took to basket-ball like ducks took to water.  Did they ever win a game?  Town teams played at the hall and Quick Draw did not recall the men ever loosing a game.
